What is usually going on
Common causes of neck pain and posture correction we treat in Farnborough
Posture-related neck pain
Long days at a desk, on a laptop or commuting with the head held forward. The neck and upper back stiffen and ache, often worse by the evening.
Neck injuries
Whiplash from a car accident, a fall, or a sports collision. Even old injuries can flare up months or years later.
Disc irritation
A bulging disc can cause neck pain that sometimes spreads to the shoulder blade or arm. Most improves with treatment and time.
Nerve irritation
Pain, tingling or numbness running down one arm from a nerve irritated in the neck.
Tension and headaches
Tight muscles at the base of the skull and across the shoulders, often linked to stress and screen work, commonly cause headaches.
Wry neck
Waking with a neck stuck to one side. Painful, but it usually settles quickly with the right treatment.
Your first appointment
What the assessment involves
Your first appointment at Farnborough is 30 minutes of assessment and treatment. We look at how the pain started, how you work, sleep and drive, and whether it spreads into the head or arms.
We examine the neck's movement, the joints and muscles involved, your posture and, if there is arm pain, the nerves, so we treat the root cause rather than the symptoms.
Treatment starts the same day and you leave with a tailored posture correction and strength routine.

How long it takes
What recovery looks like
Most posture-related and stiff necks improve noticeably within a few appointments. Disc and nerve-related pain usually takes longer, and we will explain what to expect at your first visit.
Keeping up the posture and strength routine is what keeps the improvement, so we make it short and specific to your day.
When to be seen sooner
Most neck pain and posture correction is a nuisance rather than an emergency. Get seen the same day, by us or your GP, if you have:
- Neck pain after a significant accident, fall or blow to the head
- Dizziness, double vision, difficulty speaking or swallowing with neck pain. Call 999
- Weakness, numbness or pins and needles in both arms or both legs
- Neck stiffness with a severe headache, fever or rash, or feeling generally unwell. Seek urgent medical help
